The main goal of modernization is creating a “simulator” of combat planes such as MiG-29 and Su-27, which distinguishes it from other options of plane modernization of similar class. For that goal plane is equiped with onboard training suite (BTK-39) and flight and technical characteristics are enhanced.
Training plane L-39M is a product of modernization of serial training plane L-39S.
Enhancements of flight characteristics of the plane were done by modernizing engine AI-25TL to AI-25TLSH profile. It gives thrust boost up to 1850kg, reduced acceleration time up to 2 times on small and medium heights, improvement of power control system (installation of output gases temperature regulation block BRT).
Modernization of plane L-39S to L-39M provides:
installation of flight data registrator BUR-4-1-07 instead of SARPP-12GM;
continuation of intended term of work up to 35 years
installation of measurement system and indication of attack angles.
Cabin of L-39M was enhanced due to existing cabins of combat planes such as MiG-29, Su-27 with installation of corresponding onboard avionics for imitation of completing combat task by fighter, which helps to lighten adaptation for pilot switching training to combat plane. L-39M modernized in such way allows to improve quality of flight training and gives an oportunity to use it for military units, armed with fighters such as MiG-29 and Su-27. Thus using training plane in military units for support of flight and combat skills of pilots allows to shorten costs for these purposes. For pilots of MiG-29 up to 4 times, and up to 5 times for pilots of Su-27.
